Do you still depend on the olden days of restoring documents? Remember how hard it was to recover the document. If, we forgot to save the recent edits or the document.
Usually, when you delete the entire paragraph, instead of a line. Or when you delete the entire chart, instead of that Excel table. We have all experienced it. The only option we had was to restore it from memory. That too did not work all the time But that was history. Now there are dozens of ways of doing it and recovering old versions of files.
Here are 2 such ways:
A. Microsoft OneDrive
One drive is the cloud service provided by Microsoft. Here you can back up all your files, documents, images, and videos that can be retrieved later. Even if you deleted it from your computer.
But this process is not automatic. You’ve got to set up a backup in Windows or one drive. With Microsoft one drive cloud storage, it is very easy to recover deleted or old files.
Follow these steps:
1. Open OneDrive. You can even open the file from your Word app.
2. To find the file, select it and press right-click.
3. Select the version history from the drop-down.
4. Click the Arrow next to the version and choose to restore.
The selected version will be restored.
B. Google Drive
In Google Drive, files are saved by default in their cloud for Google Docs and Sheets, whenever you open or edit them.
To restore an earlier version or any version of the file, you have to do this.
Follow these steps:
1. Open or select the file. Go to the file option in the top toolbar. Click it
2. Select the Version History from the drop-down and select the version you want.
3. The previous versions will be seen on the right side. There will be many versions of the file.
4. Select the version you want. click Restore this version. The selected version will be restored.
5. Clicking on 3 vertical dots next to the file. You will be given 3 options – restore the version, make a copy, and name this version.
Not only docs and sheets, but you can also retrieve photos and videos from Google Drive. Note – you have to save and upload them first.
