I know it is hard, but it is essential to forgive others for our own growth. People have hurt you and let you down, but that is the past and is of no use to you now. It is just baggage that you carry.
When people hurt or do something wrong. We are affected as we are attached to them and can’t believe what they have done. Do you think not forging them or not letting the pain go will help us? We spend precious hours of life thinking about them instead of forgiving them.
I know it is difficult; the pain does not go, but keeping it is also not going to help. It is only going to hurt us. When you forgive someone, it’s not to forget what they did to you, nor it is giving them a chance to do it again. They are letting go of the anger and vengeance and healing the wounds.
Here are some things you can do-
1. Forget the past – All the pain and suffering are not present, despite that, we carry them. There is a lot in life to see and experience. So, why keep bothering us with the negative ones.
2. Prioritize yourself – Count yourself at the top of your priority list. We give too much importance to others, that’s why others hurt us. Instead, we should treat ourselves the same way we treat others, with respect and care.
3. Accept it- To forgive it, you need to accept it first. Until you acknowledge the action that hurts you, you can’t forgive or forget it. Accept it and just let it go. Also, be smart and don’t let them do it again.
4. Learn from it– The same person can’t hurt us twice unless we allow them. Don’t give them a chance to do it again. Learn from your mistake and understands where things went wrong.
In the end, it is your decision. But if you forgive them, let them know at least. Also, You don’t have to brag about it. But yes, saying “I forgive you” is an accomplishment, very few could achieve.
