Moving an email list is a data and consent exercise as much as a software change. Before migrating, check that you can document how each person subscribed, preserve unsubscribe status, and keep the first campaign after the move low-risk. This checklist complements AditsBlogs’ existing Moosend overview with a narrower migration focus.

1. Audit the list before export
Record the source, signup date or consent evidence where available, and the status of each subscriber. Keep unsubscribed and suppressed addresses out of marketing sends. Clean obvious duplicates and invalid records using your existing platform’s tools and your documented consent rules.
2. Check import format and plan limits
Moosend’s documentation says recipient imports can use copied data or TXT, CSV and Excel files, and that duplicate or unsubscribed members may be excluded during import. Prepare a UTF-8 CSV and map fields before uploading. Its published plan guidance says subscription billing depends on active subscriber counts; review the current pricing page and your account’s quote rather than relying on old screenshots.
3. Test the move in a small, controlled way
- Export a backup and retain it securely.
- Map custom fields and tags before the full import.
- Import a small test segment and inspect counts, encoding and field values.
- Check that unsubscribed contacts remain suppressed.
- Authenticate your sending domain and test messages to several inbox providers.
- Send first to engaged subscribers and monitor bounces, complaints and delivery.
4. Budget for the real ongoing cost
Compare subscriber limits, send frequency, automation needs, billing interval and any migration time. Moosend’s help center describes a 30-day trial and subscription or credit options; eligibility and terms can vary, so confirm your account’s current offer. Don’t move solely for a headline price if you depend on integrations or workflows that require rebuilding.
